چکیده

Chemokines are small proteins (7-16kDa) that act at G protein-coupled receptors to regulate a variety of physiological and pathophysiological processes1,2). The human immunodeficiency virus Type 1 (HIV-1) principally uses CCR5 and CXCR4 chemokine receptors as coreceptors with CD4 to gain entry into target cells3,4). Therefore, a molecule that binds to the CCR5 receptor could potentially prevent HIV-1 entry into cells, which makes CCR5 an important target for anti-HIV-1 therapy5). In the course of screening our extract library for inhibitors of CCR56,7), extracts from Bipolaris brizae (Nisikado) Shoem and Stachybotrys chartarum were found

Frequency of CCR5?32 Variant in North-West of Iran

Chemokine and chemokine receptors show several variations which may affect resistance to infectious disease. A 32 base pair deletion in the open reading frame of the human CCR5 gene (CCR5?32) results in producing a truncated antigen which fails to be presented on the surface of target cells. CCR5?32 variant is not a functional co receptor for HIV-1 entrance and delay the onset of acquired immun...

Evaluation of CCR5Δ32 Polymorphism in Patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and Healthy Individuals

ABSTRACT           Background and Objectives: C-C chemokine receptor type 5 (CCR5) is a chemokine receptor expressed at high levels on the surface of T-cells. A 32-bp deletion in the coding region of the CCR5 (CCR5Δ32) leads to production of an incomplete protein that is not expressed on the cell surface. CCR5Δ32 may be involved in devel...

The role of chemokines and chemokine receptors in mycosis fungoides

Background: Chemokines are a family of cytokines initially characterized by their capacity to induce chemotaxis, or directed leukocyte migrations. These receptors are activated by chemotactic cytokines called chemokines. Interactions between chemokines and chemokine receptors also are involved in tumorigenesis, migration and invasion of lymphoma cells. Methods: An English literature search...

Distribution of the mutated delta 32 allele of CCR5 co-receptor gene in Iranian population

Background :The CCR5 is a chemokine receptor that serves as a co-receptor for HIV-1 attachment and entry to T lymphocytes. A 32bp deletion (∆32) in this gene is believed to be associated with resistance to infection and delay disease progression. The aim of this study was to determine the ∆32 allele frequency in healthy individuals and HIV-infected individuals with AIDS.   Methods : In this e...

Expression of Chemokine Receptors on Th1/Th2 CD4+ Lymphocytes in Patients with Multiple Sclerosis

Background: Th1 cells preferentially express CXCR3, CCR5 and CCR6, while CCR3 and CCR4 are predominantly expressed by Th2 cell subsets. Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a Th1 cell-dependant chronic inflammatory disease of the central nervous system, and immunomudolatory cytokines could alter the chemokine expression pattern of these lymphocyte subsets. Objective: This study was performed to measure c...
